Skills for Life
Skills for Life is the government’s long-term strategy for improving adult literacy and numeracy in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. This is due to the government recognising over the recent years that there are millions of adults in these parts of the UK which have difficulties with basic literacy and numeracy.
Skills for Life is hence the term used for the valuable skills like reading, writing and maths which everybody needs to succeed in education, to use in employment and to advance in everyday life. Skills for Life is sometimes referred to as ‘Basic Skills’ or ‘Key Skills’.
Doing Skills for Life can enable your employees to get the functional skills needed to progress through everyday life and work activities. In essence, these skills are a necessity. It will help them to gain more confidence in their oral and written communication skills and improve their job skills, whether that is being able to do quick mental maths to work out something for a client or generally giving better customer service.
